RULES OF the Neo-Backrooms Project
Welcome to the wiki. These guidelines exist to maintain a friendly atmosphere, encourage creativity, and uphold quality standards. failure to follow can lead to warnings or bans.
1. Be Respectful
No harassment, insults, threats, or bullying toward other users.
Critique the writing, not the writer.
Keep criticism constructive and unbiased.
Discrimination of any kind is not tolerated.(NO homophobia, transphobia, racism, ect)
2. No Gatekeeping
All users are equally valued, whether they are new or experienced writers and fans.
Encourage newcomers to participate.
Give constructive criticism when offering feedback.
Elitism is not tolerated.
3. Creative Freedom
There is no single universal canon for the Backrooms.
Different interpretations of the Backrooms are allowed.
Shared lore is optional, not required.
The community may develop commonly accepted lore over time(for only the neo levels).
4. Respect Other Authors
No plagiarism.
Do not repost another author's work without permission.
Do not significantly edit another author's work without permission.
Give proper credit where applicable.
reposts of Wikidot work, fandom work or anyother people's work is not allowed!! reword and make your own, your allowed to make your own versions and takes on other people's works from outside this wiki, but don't just COPY people's, duplicates or plagiarised works will be deleted.
5. Minimum Quality Standards
The following types of pages may be deleted or revised:
- Pages with very little effort put into them.
- Incomplete works-in-progress (WIPs).
- Pages that are difficult to understand.
- Spam pages.
- Pages that contain little or no meaningful content.
6. No AI-Generated Content
AI-generated content is not allowed.
This includes:
- AI-generated articles.
- AI-generated level ideas.
- AI-generated entities.
- AI-generated images.
- AI-generated lore.
All content must be created by human contributors.
7. Revision Before Deletion
Whenever possible:
- Give feedback.
- Allow the author an opportunity to revise their work.
- Consider deletion only after revisions have been attempted.
8. No Drama or Callouts
No callout pages.
No personal attacks.
Keep disputes focused on content, not individuals.
9. No Spam
No advertisements.
No excessive self-promotion.
No vandalism.
No repeated spam submissions.
10. Authority of the Staff
Staff members enforce the guidelines and maintain the wiki.
Staff decisions should be reasonable and fair.
Abuse of power is not tolerated.
11. Have Fun
This wiki exists for collaborative storytelling.
Be creative.
Experiment with your ideas.
Work together.
Help each other grow.
Our goal is to balance creative freedom with quality, not unnecessary restrictions.
12. No Downvote Culture
The Backrooms wiki values creativity and experimentation.
Pages should not be attacked, criticized, or deleted simply because an idea is unusual, unpopular, or different from current trends.
Members are encouraged to provide constructive criticism and advice for improvement, not demands to delete content they personally dislike.
The following are not valid reasons to attack or delete a page:
- "This is not how I would write the Backrooms."
- "This does not match my understanding of the lore."
- "The idea is too weird."
- "I just don't like this idea."
Constructive criticism should focus on writing quality, presentation, clarity, and effort — not personal preference.
Creative disagreements are acceptable. Hostility toward creators is not.
13. Personal Canons
When it comes to canons in the CANON HUB please ask permission and ask about assistance on rules around people's personal canons before creating or editing pages, to the person who created the Verse/Mythos.
